help with wireless network for 2 pcs

i am looking at going wireless using 1 desktop 1 laptop using a wirless access point router im i right in thinking my dektop will be connected to the router with cat 5 and only the laptop will be wireless. i cant seem to find a detailed diagram to follow they all seem to include seperate access points and radio waves no wiring can anyone point me in the right direction.thanks in advance.
 
I got the same setup. All you need is a wireless router, connect the modem (DSL, Cable)to the wan port of the router, connect your desktop computer to the other ports. Check with your ISP wether they use dynamic or static IP. If its dynamic configure your router to dynamic IP. Change your desktop computer and laptop to use DHCP and your done.
