I get this message every time i start internet expoler:
Your homepage has been changed...
It comes up with a microsoft page and says It might be windows defender should i remove it it is on a xp machine (my dads)
have you had the same prob?
 
do a spyware scan or post a Hijackthis log in the Computer security section of the forum .
 
Windows Defender is a spyware scanner, yes. However, I'd recommend either Spyware Terminator or SUPERantispyware. They can be used in conjunction as well, and they are, of course, free.
 
That is very strange. If it's not a virus then I don't know what it could be. I had the same problem a while back with my desktop, where my homepage kept coming up as different pages even though I kept changing it back to the original every day. It was very frustrating but it my dad took it to a repair guy and he somehow fixed it. I think it was a virus that was causing the redirect.

no i have yahoo mail as my homepage but a couple of days ago on my DADS computer i put windows defender on there windows xp he is running and now he keeps getting a microsoft page your page has been changed that is all you get!
