Help!

I am having an issue with my display...

I turned on my pc and everything displays at lowest settings..

640 x 480 on 4bit

The gpu is a bfg 8500 gt 256

Sounds like the display driver just went out of whack, got to Nvidia's website and download the latest driver. If I knew what operating system you had, I'd get it for you.. but here is the website.
