how do you update the bios?

Usually you got to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download a FLASH file. There are several ways of doing it which the manufacturer will describe to you. On my mobo, I flash from a floppy.

Well, when you goto download the BIOS, the manufacturer will have instructions for you....

yes but i've learned not to reply completely on online instructions so i wanted to double check here with the experts

on my abit sg-72 it has a utility that runs from inside windows, you load up the flash file and import it into the utility and it takes literally about 2 mins to take a full backup write the new BIOS and error check it.

when i followed the instructions to install sound drivers...the instructions were completely wrong, and they were provided by the company who made the card and driver
