ok so the board is a msi microstar kt6 delta and the error is PXE-E61 : Media test failure, check cable and idea ive checked all cables:confused:
 
That just means that the lan is checking for bootable devices. Go into the bios and disable lan(network)boot and make sure the hard drive is set for first boot device. If it is, does the bios recognize the hdd? If not, you have a bad drive or cable.
 
PXE has to do with booting to a network drive. Are you able to boot into Windows at all? If so, just disable network boot in the BIOS.

lol i can get in to what i think is the raid option its a sata drive its all out the old conputer it finds the drive and ids it i can get the raid bios but thats all then it does the check and tels me to pres crt alt del to restart and a message saying wtldr is missing
 
Is there an operating system installed on this drive? or is it a blank drive? If there is no operating sstem installed then thats why the system won't boot to the drive.
 
But that xp pro was installed on a different computer, correct? If so, you'll have to do a fresh install of windows with the drive in the new computer?
 
i cant do any thing on this conputer exept the raid bios because part way thro it comes up wtldr missing

Like I asked, if the drive has an Operating system installed while it was in another computer, you will have to do a fresh install of windows anyway. You just can't take a drive with windows on it from another system and stick it in and boot to it. It don't work that way.
 
You would have to back it all up first. But no, there is no other way.

Yes it does. When you install windows it installs drivers for the hardware that is installed in that machine. If you move that drive to a different computer with different hardware you have issues such as this. Makes perfect sense.
 
no it doesnt make sense because the old hard drive had the same problem and they were brought as a group and installd in that conputer
