Ever since my sister got home from college the internet has been slow as shit when she's home. She goes on her laptop and streams movies and goes on tumblr all day and it makes my ping shoot up in games.

What I don't understand is that i have a wired connection and he has wireless. It would seem like wired would be the first priority, and wireless shoud experience the slower speed. Is there any way to make wired the "first priority" so I don't experience this type of lag in games/general browsing and just let her have the lag? Because she doesn't really care, but it makes any online games unplayable.

Yeah I would also like to know what router you have if you may have the option to control bandwidth within your local network.

Some routers have an easy bandwidth manager where you can set what sort of data has the highest priority. I know my old Asus WL-500Gp V1 has both the easy bandwidth manager and more advanced bandwidth manager.

Though the WL-500Gp V1 is no longer in production i'm not sure about the V2 or if they have made further versions of it.
