Okay so today I was setting up my new computer the Zoostorm which came with no operating system. As I was booting it up it went through all its processes and then it asked me to boot up from a CD so I put my Windows XP Home Edition in the disk tray and started setting it up. Firstly it had to format the hard drive partition which went okay and it installed all its files but then I unfortunately had to leave it alone and when I got back it asked me to choose a partition to setup Windows XP on. So I chose the only partition I had but then it said windows XP is already installed on this partition if you overwrite it some of Windows may not work properly so I decided to exit the setup so that I didn't bugger it up but unfortunatley now I cant even access the Windows XP setup this is what happens.

NOTE: it wont even say "press any key to boot from CD" unless I have the Microsoft XP CD in the disk tray when I turn it on it will just come up with a black screen

Thanks Ben

That is the only time you will see a message like that is when a bootable cd is found in the drive. I would say this could be a hard drive issue since you are getting the pxe boot. Pxe boot usually only comes up when a hard drive isn't found by the bios.

Then go into the bios and disable network(lan) boot.

What brand of hard drive do you have? I would suggest running a diagnostic on the hard drive.

Also can you post a list of your system specs? Need to get some sort of idea of what hardware we are dealing with here. Also, I would suggest buying windows 7 and installing it as XP's support ends in April of next year.

Firstly how do I run a diagnostics check without an operating system. Secondly here are the system specs it has a Intel Celron dual core 2.6ghz processor 360GB of HDD and 4GB of RAM. At the minute I don't no the motherboard apart from that its a gigabyte and that it can handle a Celron, I3, I5 and I7. And after putting that I realize it tells you more on the product page so here's the link.

Look in the bios to see if the sata controller setting is set to ahci. If so, change to IDE/compatibility and then try installing XP. Without the exact model number of motherboard will be hard to determine if the board even supports XP.
