Hey I'm new and there are so many threads started here that I don't have time to read them. I can't change my screen resolution about 640x480... and I'm having trouble installing my monitor if that's the case.

Your monitor should be plug-and-play. What video card do you have? And could you give some more exact details of the problem?

Well, to let you know I don't know much about computers. Well can you tell me if there's anywhere in my computer where I can find out what video card I have. If this is useful, I have Windows XP.

Well is that the location where I should look to get what my video card is? Anyways, I think it's VgaSave...

Edit: I checked Display Properties and over screen resolution it says

Display:
(Default Monitor) on.. then that;s it.

No, I need your video card. Under the display properties, go to the settings tab, and click the advanced button. What do the tabs in that window say? If you see one that says Nvidia or ATI anything, then click it and tell me what it says.

i did what you asked me to Bobo and the tabs are:

General
Adaptor
Monitor
Troubleshoot

a friend of mine says it might be because I have a graphic card. i used to be able to change my screen resolution but after i formatted my computer, something went wrong.

Well I'll give a screenshot here:

by the way mrbagrat... i don't quite understand what you said. i'm on these forums for help and possibly to learn this stuff. but honestly, i don't know much about the computer expect basic stuff like internet well a bit more than that and so on.

ok i've got the program installed but not really sure how to work it. well i know how to work it but i just dnt kno where to look. sorry if im being a bother.

Well, it looks like you don't have a graphics card and you are running off a vga display (intregated). If that is the case you probably can't change screen resolution. When you formated your computer it probably erased the graphics card display drivers. You are going to have to look inside your case for a graphics card and tell us what it is.

Why not? 640x480 is way too low, even for an IGP.

How could you see what it is if it is integrated?

OK, so it is integrated (How did Everest totally skip my mind? lol..)

When you rightclick on the desktop, properties, and settings tab, what are the choices for the resolution? Does it let you change anything?
