OK, so basically my friend asked me to help him pick out a computer to buy. I dont know a lot about computers so I figured I would ask some more knowledgable people :) anyway this is what he wants:
A computer to:
play games on, WoW, Wc3, CS, etc
web browsing
store songs / movies

he was looking at the xps on the main page of dell, the 1999$ one, ill get a link in a second.
His budget is 2000$ USD max.
Thanks in advanced guys :)

Decent dual-core CPU (Quad-core is NOT needed; if he got one, no biggie, but will be fine without)
2 Gigs of RAM (3 Gigs is probably not needed--see above)
Depending on the amount of songs/movies, a 200GB HDD should suffice.

After tax and shipping, he will be well over his $2k budget. I would price out a few different models from different companies, honestly.

i would build it for him.. but being a bit computer illiterate im sure i would mess it up. and ok can you suggest some other companies that I should look at for building computers?

hmm... I may look into that, but i wouldnt know what parts to get off newegg.com, i usually just buy from dell, using whatever they suggest / what im told on this forum :), But is having a local store build the computer a good deal over Dell... I always hear talk of Dell price gouging or whatever

Yes it is a very good deal over Dell.

Are you sure you want to spend the full 2k? That is quite alot for a system.

And that only the P31, P35, X38, and 780i series support them :P (P31/35 require CMOS flash) :)

if only i knew what this meant ><

im seriously bad at computers, but im looking at the computer 101 things to learn more before i go onto this hopefully I figure it out :)
