A guy linked me to the thread with instructions to DL malwarebytes and hijackthis and then post your logs. Reason I'm posting this is mainly because some guy was on my computer about a week ago doing a bunch of stuff in the CMD - I have no idea what he was doing, but I'm worried that he might of left a backdoor to give himself access to my computer while he's on his own computer. Also, he did something in the CMD - then went to google and typed in dod.gov login - which went to a page of the district of defense, and on there it read something about having your computer monitored by freaking government. Nothing was clicked on that page, but I dunno, maybe just clicking into that page automatically makes you monitored I have no clue. But yeah, here's my logs.

I will say my computer isn't running as quick as it used to. I have an i7 Processor with 6gigs of DDR - so it's a pretty good machine. Ever since I installed a 2nd HDD, which was 1.5tbs, it's been running sluggish - I even removed the 1.5tb drive and it's still running pretty sluggish.
 
You have some minor cleanup to do, nothing major wrong with your log however. Please do the following.

1. Please uninstall the ask toolbar via add/remove programs.
2. Please uninstall viewpoint manager, mediaplayer, anything labeled viewpoint in add/remove programs.


How come you don't have any running processes? You have 2 running right now which is java updates and hijack. Your antivirus isn't active at the moment. Did you disable stuff from running on bootup? Chances are you disabled something you shouldn't have.

Rerun hijackthis and place a check next to this item and click on fix checked at the bottom.

As far as I know, my ESET NOD32 should of been running - I didn't have that disabled or anything.

Removed the Ask Toolbar, as well as the ViewPoint Meda Player [that was the only ViewPoint file there was in there]

And that BHO file seems to not want to delete. When I delete it and then run another scan it's right back in the log.
 
Reboot the computer and post another hijackthis log. run the msconfig utility to see what has been disabled from starting up and let us know.

^^ Hmm the ESET service is running but, the startup Process's (egui and ekrn) is NOT running. Open up eset and make sure everything is up to date and make sure everything in Setup is Enabled. If the eset logo is on the taskbar and is NOT red, then its running right.
 
Well, I just download the new beta and ran a scan and everything shows up correctly. The OP has an issue somewhere.
 
Last avail: I would try fully wiping the OS clean of ESET

1. Uninstall ESET
2. Delete any ESET folders in program files
3. Restart pc
4. Reinstall ESET
5. Restart again and make sure ESET updates
6. Post a fresh hijackthis log

Something else that's bothered me though is that ever since I installed this memory card reader, there's ALWAYS a 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon on my taskbar. I went to properties and selected to hide it, but it's still there when I hit my arrow to expand the taskbar icons - is there any way to get rid of this without disabling the memory card reader?
 
You can actaully choose to always hide that icon by right clicking on the taskbar and click on properties. Click the customize button under the taskbar tab. Change the option to always hide on show safely remove hardware icon.
 
I'm on Vista, so I gotta right click the taskbar, hit properties, go to the notifications tab, then under the icons section click customize - and in there I have it set to 'hide', the other options or 'hide when in active' and show'. But even with it set to 'hide' it's still not hiding.
 
I opened up my task manager and it says that 36% of memory is being used right now, which is 2.18Gb's - is this normal?
 
So you have 6 gb of memory installed? The more memory you have, the more vista will use.
