Just need some opinions...

I currently run a home-brewed system with the following:

P4 - 3.00GHz
Asus P5GDC Deluxe
2GB Ram
RX700 Pro-128PCIE
etc, etc.

I have an older WD136AA and a somewhat newer WD1000BB. I just bought a WD 250GB SATA-300 HDD and I'm trying to figure out if I want to keep the 13.6GB HDD. Right now, I have W2K and all of my software (various programs ranging from business planning programs to AutoCAD and Photoshop) on the 13.6GB HDD and it's darned near full (just over 1GB left). All of our data is on the 100GB HDD and it can get pretty full (mostly photos), especially when we leave Adobe Photoshop Album backups on it.

Anyway, should I keep the 136 for W2K only (or XP if I decide to uprgrade), and use the other two drives for software and data? Or chunk the 136 altogether and partition the 100GB into, say 25GB and 75GB nominal, using the 25GB partition for windows and the 75GB for other software, and keep the 250GB separate for data only?

I don't really game...no time with a 1yr old and 3 yr old and trying to study for licensing exams...

But I will be running CAD and I'm sure our photo files will top 20,000 in the very near future...not to mention music storage.

Thanks in advance...

Hi and welcome. :)

I wouldn't want to repartition any drives unless you are ready to wipe it and start over with a new install. Repartitioning your hard drive will be a pain at best if you are trying to just shrink 1 partition then create a second.

I would probably ditch the 13.6, use the 100GB (only 1 partition) for windows and programs and use the 250GB for all your data.
