Hibernate

How come every computer I've ever owned never hibernates correctly?

Will it not hibernate if somethings running? I thought regardless of what's running, as long as you don't touch it, it will hibernate.

What am I missing?
 
hehe...yes, i understand it had to be asked. i have it enabled, it worked last night set at 5 minutes, i set it to an hour about 3 hours ago and when i returned it was still running.

When i first built this, it worked fine. now for some reason it doesn't.
 
Well one thing, do you mean hibernation or suspend/sleep? They are totally different.

For some odd reason, my last computer used to sleep just fine, but then one day suddenly stopped working. My compaq is similar. Some days it never comes out of sleep until I want it to, others it'll only sleep for about 1 minute!

One rather minor thing I noticed, my mouse(a cheaper optical one) sometimes sinces movement when there is none :P For whatever reason, I'm sure that'd knock it out of sleep...
