High CPU temps I53570K

Just finished my new build and it is all running awesome, Running Crysis,Borderlands 2 and BF3 at Full ultra settings.

But ive been checking my temps through HWmonitor and realtemp.

My GPU (GTX680) seems to be running at 60C full load and 24-32 idle, Which seems perfectly fine

But my CPU idles at around 36-42C and under load playing borderlands 2 i will check and MAX has reached 77-78c .... This seems extremly high since its on stock clocks?

Im wondering if my new MOBO Is overclockin it because it has all these nutty features and i set it to run performance. Any way to check the clocks.

How's your cable management and how many fans do you have in your case? Is the CPU fan running?

To check CPU clocks go to Computer then right click and then Properties. Should show system info and your CPU clock speed somewhere on there.

The "GeminII s524 Cooler" really isn't that good of a HSF, but should offer a lot better temps then posted. I'm leaning towards either, to much paste, or not enough.

Gemin cooler is not On atm SORRY! stock fan is on, Waiting for my new ram before i put the GEMIN on since it blocks the ports.

Stock fan had a good amount of pre applies paste so dont think thats a prob

could be something new with windows 7 too. The whole time I have used windows 7 in the past I never put more than a half ass effort into learning how to use it.

I have never been able to get windows to acknowledged the increased CPU speed except by using CPUz.

Yeah nor have I. Have to use CPU-Z or something like that to see the frequency the CPU is running at once it's been overclocked. System Properties says 'Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.3GHz' for me.

Right now I am running he stock cooler on my 3570K. I get 30c idle and 65c in Prime 95. I am guessing that the heatsink is not mounted properly. some times those pins are kinda hard to get set right. Take it off and clean everything. reseat it with new thermal paste and try look at the temps.

At any point in the instilation did you take off the heatsink and try installing it again? there might not be a good connection between the two.

Can you post a screen shot of CPUz at idle and at load?

yeah they are fine. They look lower than normal to me. Especially since you have the OC settings for 4.2GHz @1.25v Which is an overkill voltage for 4.2GHz. I used that voltage for 4.5GHz

Where were you getting your original temp readings from?

Those were my original temps, And i havent overclocked it, I think my new motherboard just does it automatically. Anyone know how i can set it to normal and just OVerclock myself.

Im running AI suite II that came with my MOBO

I have no overclock experience so i havent done anything, My new mobo has settings like Normal,Power save, and performance maybe that has something to do with it?

Dis damn Darn teckanolagy, DOin errthang itself all WIllay Nillay!!

I have no idea what settings would give it an auto overclock. Easiest way to set it back is to reset the CMOS. Let us know if you are still getting the errors after you reset it.
