High Refresh Rates

Bad? no. Refresh rates vary among CRT monitor, some are higher than others. Higher refresh rates helped to combat CRT flicker. LCD monitors usually have a lower, static VRR because flicker isn't present in LCD monitors. A higher refresh rate also allows more frames to be rendered to the screen, though the benefit of this is questionable, as the human eye acts as a limiting factor in many cases.

Was that suppose to help him in anyway?

It does not matter if your monitor supports it. none supported refresh rates will not be shown if you have the new drivers.
