i bought amd athlon x2 dual core recently

the problem is its temperature reach 60 c at idle

i changed my heatsink with amd copper with 4 heatpipes but still its temperature reach 60 c

i also used coolermaster thermal compound

my motherboard is abit KN9 Ultra

anyone please help

how much thermal compound did you use? your only supposed to use like a half pea sized drop, very very small.

i doubt even the X2's reach 60C on idle, even with stock heatsinks.

Open the side of the case up and run a fan on the motherboard. If your temps drop a lot it could be bad air flow in the case. Are all your fans running?

i've open the case but still the same

before I apply the thermal paste (coolermaster) i only use the thermal pad attached to my heatsink (originally there when i bought it) but the temperature is 60 C

so i don't think the amount of thermal compound is the problem.

butt thanx to all that reply

i've downloaded next sensor

the temperature reading decreases to 50 C but is that a little bit too high?

vk3fcll, i've downloaded SensorsView Pro 3.1 and the temperature reads 26 C

next sensor read 50 C

which one is correct actually? (of course i like the sensorview reading lol)

check the voltage for cpu in bios, make sure it is according to what amd reccomends. what fan do you use for that heatsink?
