hijack Cable Modem

1. Word your question differently. You can't "hijack" a cable modem unless you run inside the user's house, take the cable modem and take it home.

2. Do you mean someone leeching off of your connection via WiFi, if so, a successful connection could probably give them access to some files. If you clear your history and don't use any logging apps, then as far as I know, then no.

This is moreso what I was talking about. Could someone hack into my computer through my Cable Modem and see everything that I was doing?
Whenever you are connected to the internet, you are at risk of attack from viruses, etc. Having a good firewall reduces those risks almost to zero. The same goes to someone trying to access your pc to see what you are doing. Having a good firewall will make you almost 'invisible' to the outside world.

But any illegal activity that happens on the pc, such as the example of p2p downloading you gave, can be monitored by the service provider.
