Hijack logs and Question?

My brother needs a computer to download email with construction plans/cad drawings. If I add Ram to this machine would it be fast enough to do that? He also wants to use a larger 25" monitor because the plans are quite detailed.

I don't see any issues but the pc is a bit on the old side. What type of format are these drawings in? If CAD software is required, not sure this machine would work. What type of video card does it have? onboard?

Hi, John. S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR is the video card. The files that are sent are PDF files. Is there anyway that I can upgrade the video card that is on the machine? I get the feeling that I'm beating a dead horse on this one.
 
You would have to give us the model number of the motherboard. If he will only be messing around with PDF files then there should be no problem.
 
It has an AGP4x slot and max ram of 2gb DDR266. Like I said earlier if it doesn't need to actually run CAD software it should be ok. The only cards at newegg that would work would be the nvidia 6200 or the radeon 9250. Cheapest decent upgrade you could get.
 
If I might ask one more thing. This machine locks up every few hours and also when you scroll on a newly downloaded page, it is very jerky.

If the screen is slow and jerky when you scroll, that usually means the video driver isn't installed or needs to be updated. Or possibly its a bad card all together.
 
Thanks, John. I went to the Device Manager and updated the video card. It's still jerky, but is noticeably better. Any thoughts on why it might be locking up?
