hijacked email

Hi everyone

i hope someone here can help me with this - my computer was hacked along with an email i had, it was by people i know - haters - it was a gmail account with a random nickname, not my name. I used that account for watching youtube and subscribed to a few blogs - i had no personal info on it, no pics, no mail was sent from it or received , i had no contacts - practiclly a ghost mail - it has been hijacked by these people - can they use it for illegal stuff and would it be traced to me? I need to know this so i know whether to submit a police report? If not then i really do not care other than the fact i have to figure out how to protect my computer, cause they have done it twice.

Basically all you need to do is change your email password to something that won't be easy to figure out. Use a combination of letters/numbers/special symbols. I would also scan your system for malware using malwarebytes. If these people have access to your system, they could have installed a keylogger.
