what is the best program to run on hirens boot cd to check a hard drive for errors?

I use MHDD to test for sectors that have high access times. Not sure if it is the best to test with, but it works for what I want to do.

FYI, you will need to set your SATA interface to IDE before it can find the drive.

You should use the tool for your particular drive. Seatools for Seagate, Samsung, Maxtor drives. Western Digital Diagnostics for Western Digital drives.
