Hitachi 3TB Ext-HDD?

I prefer Seagate, Western Digital or Samsung hard disk drives. But it also depends on the model. Every manufacturer releases some defective models of drives. Right now I would stay with 1.5 terabyte and smaller capacity drives. They tend to be more reliable than larger capacity.

I stay away from Hitachi hard disk drives.

oh really?? i didnt even think about 1.5TB and smaller being more reliable....

this hitachi one got pretty good reviews, ive been reading up on it since i posted about it..... actually, turns out one of my old h.s. friends just bought this one before the flooding and he loves this model. his is the 3TB touro desk pro

Won't really matter since WD bought Hitachi and Seagate bought Samsung :(

I didn't know about the merge between those two companies, hmmm.

I've bought Hitachi before and wasn't too impressed with the quality. Since then, I've only ever purchased Western Digital hard drives. I've ran across Seagate drives and have not had any issues with them, however, I love the support offered with WD and the quality is superb.

From what I understand, W/D with Hitachi, they plan on keeping them separated. Seagate plans on using some of Samsung technology and doing away with the Samsung name. Since they bought just Samsung harddrive division, they cant keep selling them under the Samsung name.

Sounds to me WD doesn't want to soil their good name, eh? Oh well, as long as the quality doesn't go down, I'll stick with Western Digital.
