I think its the dreaded spyaxe, followed dteps to get rid of spyaxe and it seems to worked but now my system keeps gettin popups for porn when im sittin on the desktop so i know its spyware/adware of some sort, tried Ad-Aware SE, nothing, tried SB S&D, nothing, scanned with AVG, found a few trojan droppers.got rid of em, scaned in safe mode, everything comes up blank.

Here is symantecs removal instructions!

The following instructions pertain to all current and recent Symantec antivirus products, including the Symantec AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus product lines.


Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Update the virus definitions.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected.
Delete any values added to the registry.

For specific details on each of these steps, read the following instructions.

1. To disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP)
If you are running Windows Me or Windows XP, we recommend that you temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.

Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, from modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools cannot remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, System Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file on your computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all the other locations.

Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat.

Run a scan with symantecs online scanner and ewido...run ewido in safe mode!
 
Ok, thanks, i will do that, the popups are gettin worse. both in the frequency of popping up and the graphicnmess of the content. This needs to be sorted NOW.

Ok, followed those instructions to the T, SpyAxe seems to have gone as im not recieving the baloon notifications that look as if they are from windows. but im still getting shit loads of porn popup's. Ive scanned with everything i can think of downloading, im at a loss and i DO NOT want to format at all, its taken about 2 months to recover from the last format, they are so destructive..........

So if anyone suggests formatting i will personally hack this forum, get your IP and trace you down to your house and take a hammer to your precious PC.......

*EDIT* - installed ewido, went to updatye but it justs sits there saying its updating but nothing happens, wtf is wrong with it, is it worht scanning without the newest signatures??

sorry, im calling back so soon but i think its sorted, no popups and no fking annoying little balloon thingies in the corner, i did an online scan with Panda Systems before all your stuff and it showed up spyaxe and afew others, now its not showing anything in its results, it looks good now......

Sorry about your apache module I was not sure about that one, uninstall the software and reinstall it and you will be good...your log is clean now!

If you cant get it going again manually reinstall that file!
 
Ok, the apache server is going fine now, thanks for all your help, i never associated your username (cell4me) with computer security, ive always thought Buzz was the only half decent person round here, but you were great, thanks a lot.
