Hmmm, could it be overheating or dust?

Yesterday i posted about a problem i was having (its a couple threads down) and I called my customer care and was told to reinstall windows. I did it and everything worked fine at first. Then my problem was back. I shut off my computer and went to bed. I wake up this morning to find everything is working perfect (so far) no lag in game and windows booted up properly. Could it by somethings overheating or theres dust on something? As far as overheating I've never had this problem to date, but could it be one of the two or a combo? Or could it just be hardware?

My machine gets mighty dusty inside even with air filters on the intake fans. I can always tell when it's time to blow out the dust with canned air because the temps shown by SpeedFan start creeping upwards. Dust is an excellent insulator and can hold heat in, especially on things like heatsink fins!

Another possibility is insufficient air might be going through the case and/or CPU or other heatsinks.

Overheating is definitely a reason that a PC can crash or lock up.

On newer boards from Socket 745 up there seems to be more of a need to increase the air flow inside a case as well as keeping it dust free. When rebuilding a system where the Socket A board averaged 42C with stock cooling and two 80mm case fans the Socket 939 board saw 48-50C. The new case with four large fans saw that drop to 31C idle.

The new case came with one 140mm front intake and a 120mm rear exhaust plus the two 120mm fans mounted on the side cover afterwards. Between that and the large 3rd party cpu cooler the cpu idle temp went from 44-46C down to 32-33C. Without buying a better case with just the 140mm abd 120mm rear exhaust fans you could see where the hardwares here could have been "well done in"! What make and model is that? Even with prebuilt systems you can add better cooling.
