Hi, Ived just bought a new CPU fan w/c was a good suggestion( Tt Polo 735) Im plaaning to install it today, now my question is, their is a hole on my CPU (P4 3.4HT) i guess everybody knows thet a P4 CPU has a hole on the upper right hand corner, just wanted to know if I should remove the old paste on the hole before I apply the new one(Arctic silver 5) or just leave it there. :)

The hole is there to keep pressure from building up under the heatspreader when it is attached and cured by heated epoxy. The question is usually the same from everyone as well. "What if I get something in it?" Well, with the obvious exception of heatsink paste, there should never be anything else on it besides possibly a cleaning fluid of some sort. As long as you keep fluids out of the hole and make sure your heatsink paste is non-conductive, you are going to be OK. People here have tried their best to "fill one up" with paste, and it did no harm at all.
