Hey, my sisters computer needs some work. Its a dell 4700 i think. Basicly she got a virus that i couldnt get rid of. I couldn't connect to the internet it said"limited or no connection". Its wireless connection BTW. She was able to connect to the internet until she got the virus.

I couldnt get rid of it so i reformated her computer. Installed the Wireless drivers and the same thing happened "Limited Or no Connectivity". I know its not the wireless because all my computers are hooked up to it in my house. I have reformated the Hdd a few more times but no luck.

Is it posssible the virus is on the Bios??? If its possible should i reset the bios by pulling out the battery for about a minute? Then reformating?

Also if you have any more ideas, please let me know. Thanks!!!

Hmm, an interesting coincidence. Im having the same problem on Windows haha! Thought it might have been some configurations first as ive been playing around in the registry a bit. It might not be so then. I connect wirelessly and tend to loose all the connection as I log on to the network, I can logon to it but internet is simply off, zip. I tried to connect directly as well, plugging in the cable, that too was out of the question! Hmm think ill boot Windows now and see if Norton is up to it. :D

first off, after a format, any virus you have is most likely gone. second, go to one of the other computers that connect wirelessly and click start button, then run, then type cmd. Then type ipconfig /all. Do the same on the computer your having a problem on and compare the two, the IP addresses for DNS servers, DHCP server, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, should all be EXACTLY the same. The only difference should be last set on numbers in the IP Address.

If your DHCP, DNS, Gateway are different on the computer your having problems on, then you've got other problems. Post back with the results and we'll go from there.:)

wow, now its like that on every computer. I go to repair the connection and it cant renew the connection, im going to redo the wireless, it has never worked that well.
