I guess to do a re-format or wipe, I just need my Win xp disk?

I'm trying to burn everything I can to a cd.

Is there a step by step process somewhere on re-formating (basically a how to)

Since you said your CD drive is already bootable, just pop the Windows XP disc in and shut down your computer (perhaps the button way), wait a moment, and then turn it back on again. If all goes correctly, your computer will load the CD boot image all automatically. From there, use the menus via keyboard.

this problem generally occur in windows XP due to viruses like korgo or love gate...
try using various fixes available on nortons site.....
i too hav those...
running stinger will also be a good idea......
no need of formatting ur system buddy....
