Home Network Question

Yes it is. Are you gonna be sharing internet between the 2 or is each one gonna be hooked up to a router?

All hooked to a router. Should've mentioned that earlier. BTW, it's Windows 7 RC, so I don't have a disc.

I don't have a w7 machine at the moment but you just need to run the home and small office network setup in XP. Each computer needs to be on the same workgroup but different computer name, make sure printer and file sharing is enabled. Should be something similar on W7.

He's right. same thing.
Ya have to have the same workgroup name on all computers.

windows 7 start/computer/advanced system settings.
click on the tab computer name (and give the computer name)

all the computers have to have the same workgroup (on all computers).

goto explorer and click the c: or D: you want to share.
if its on the c: i would just share the directory only. not the entire drive.
you have to authorize it for sharing.

hasn't changed any. done the same way.

Can't create a network setup disc cause my laptop says I don't have a floppy disc or other removable media.

all the computers ive had i did not once use a network disk.
im missing something. your doing this in windows right?

though ive only and ever used the pro ver. never a home edition if it makes a diff. somebody will reply.
