home page problem

Hey guys,
so my current home page is www.google.com but when i open firefox, a website for some insurance company shows up. It still says google.com in the address bar, and when I click on links like "about us" and "contact" on the insurance company website it sends me back to google.
I tried changing the home page to something else (like yahoo.com) and it worked fine.
and i ran spybot, MS antispyware, and adaware and no spyware was found.
what the hecks going on?

hhmmm... I was hoping to see an N1, N2, N3, N4 entry...
the only thing askew is this:

PS your HJT is out of date, you should use the newest version. :eek:
 
duh, I don't believe the N entries were added until version 1.99.1. Please run the latest HJT and post a log. :)
 
I could be wrong but the smss.exe, services.exe, and lsass.exe processes may be virulent. I recently fixed someones computer that had clicked on an aolIM virus that was going around. From what i remember, those processes were malicious.

byteman they should rename computer security to byteman secuirty because you have posted on nearly every single thread lol, (not that there not helpful posts)

Hey randruff, long time no type! :D Na, those files are legit if they are in the system32 directory, (which they are), otherwise they'd be viral.

I actually don't see anything wrong with your log whateverd! Don't know why FF would be doing that, you could clear out its cache, (but I doubt that would help). Anyone have any other ideas??? :confused:

Note: clearing the cache: Tools/Options/Privacy/Clear All
