Home page question

This is probably a stupid noob question, but, ive just done a reformat of my hdd and i have been trying to set google as my home page. i went to google.com and went into internet options and did 'select current' then 'apply'. this worked for me before but now everytime i open IE the home page is the default isp home page. is there a setting or something that i have to un/check to be able to change the homepage??????
 
I had the same problem, until i noticed that my norton anti virus blocks all attempts to change my hompage. make sure you have it enabled.

Ya do that first, also I am not sure about google but some websites have a button that says, make this your homepage, look for one and try it.
