Homebuild completed but not posting

Hey guys, I completed my first homebuild last night and it powers on with all fans turning, but nothing comes up on the monitor when I power it on. I have removed the RAM and tried booting up with one, had a second HDD installed, but I disconnected it as well. The only new thing I'm down to is the new PSU, which is a
Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2SB. The 4 pin CPU connector is connected, along with the 20+4 motherboard connector. For this build, I just transplanted the motherboard and all from a Dell 3847 into a bigger case with the new power supply. I have a GTX 950 on standby until I can get some other sign of life from the system. What have I missed?
 
What video card are you using or is it onboard video? Did you use the standoffs in the correct places?

Thanks for the reply. Onboard for now until I see something, and standoffs were placed according to the screw holes in the motherboard.
 
Any hard drive activity light going? Might try building it outside of the case to make sure its not grounding against anything. Was it working fine in the old case?

Yes, the hard drive activity light was illuminating, assuming I have the headers connected to the correct pins. Working fine in the old case, I'll have to try taking it out and putting it back in to the old one to be sure I guess.
 
Update: I put everything back into the old case and tested, and things couldn't be running smoother. Also a huge sigh of relief for me that I haven't fried my system. Tested the old case with the new PSU and it is still working, so that's good news. I'll try to go back in the new case and see what I am able to come out with.
 
didn't have to put back in the old case, all you had to do was build it outside of the new case to make sure you weren't grounding against anything. I still suggest doing this so you can get a better idea of what is wrong.

Ok. It's the most puzzling thing. I'm suspecting it's the headers that connect the power switch, reset button, and power LED as that is the only thing changed from the original. As far as building outside the case, how would this work? Where would I place all the components? Just on a table orsomething?

Tried and had the same result. But as mentioned above, when everything goes back into the old case, it magically works, which lead me to believe it was something with one of the header connectors.
 
I was wondering about the front panel connectors. But if you are able to turn the pc on, it should boot. Dell motherboards have weird pin outs for the front panel since the front usb ports are usually on the same connector. This is the problem with putting Dell motherboards in a nondell case. What was the reason for switching cases? Can you post a image of the front panel header on the motherboard?

As good as I could get it. Figured that it would be something trippy with Dell. All this stemmed from me wanting to replace my GPU. If I have to get another motherboard, I will, but definitely an inconvenience.

I think you will be looking at a new motherboard, problem being I don't know if you'll be able to reactivate windows since its a new motherboard and you have an OEM license. Dell desktops and consumer laptops are a pain in the ass to work on.
 
I appreciate the help here guys. I got it working! Turned out to the the on/off switch. I just ripped it out of the old case and made a quick mod to put it in the new one. Posting from the "homebuild" now. New PSU installed as well.
