hooking two computers up

i have 2 different computers, and i'd like to hook them up to a network. can i run each of them on a separate monitor but use the same mouse and keyboard for each? what will i need for this? my assumption is just a router and the computers?
 
Use a KVM switch, just don't use the separate monitors, instead of the monitor port on the switch. I think this will work.
 
ahh yes, thank you. thats exactly what i was looking for. i cant use a monitor from each? its ok if i cant..but i wouldnt mind dual 23" ers *drool*

No, I am pretty sure that you can use different monitors, just connect them straight to the comptuers, instead of through the KVM switch.
