Hooking up a laptop keyboard externally

I was just curious, is it possible to use a keyboard from an old or broken laptop and hook it up externally to use with a desktop computer?
 
lol that seems wierd to me. how would you hook it up? =\ dont have a clue.. just picturing it now..lol
 
of course it's 'possible.' but it would require custom wiring some things and probably a lot of time. It would take way too much effort for the functionality IMO
 
yeh, especialy as you can get laptop sized keyboards real cheap, just too much hassle for the sake of a few £££'s
 
if you REALLY wanna try to do this, PM me. I may be able to get you a keyboard off of a broken LCD notebook... Don't know about cost though. I work at an HP channel partner, and our tech division I'm sure has one or two..
