the AGP 6800GS can be unlocked to be a 6800 Ultra!!!

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/geforce_6800_unlocking/page2.asp

that tells you how to enable the Quad, and the extra Vertex Shader

so, thoes 4 extra pipes and extra Vertex shader make it a GT... add the speeds of a GS and its a Ultra for half of the price

im benching the diffrence on Muse-Me's AGP 6800GS

Aquamark3:
57,776 to 60,065 not too much of a diffrence, but its there damnit... also i think drivers are holding it back.... they need new AGP drivers for the 6800GS

60,305 with 395/1.12 card speeds, and the 82.12 beta driver (the only one that works with the AGP GS), card ranked a 9,100 on the GPU score for Aquamark3

well... that fell through... my GS got a score of 11k compared to the 9.1k of the AGP, but thats because of this, check it...

AGP: 395/1.12
PCIE: 526/1.22

thoes pipelines and extra Vertex shader only help so much.... but the extra speed from the core on the NV-42 helps alot

well, if my vertex shader and pixle-pipelines existed and were unlockable, id take the GS over a 7800GT.... but sence the NV-40 core sucks and is slower but has the extra crap is not better then the NV-40 IMO, the PCI-E GS's core is better then the ultra's if it were unlockable

You mean over the 6800GT, right? The 7800GT is simply a much better card (not quite in the same price range though).

For the price though, the 6800GS is better value than the 6800GT, and unlocking it is a real bonus. I guess it makes the AGP version more comparable to the PCI-E version, which is clocked 75Mhz higher.

Oh well, either way it's still better than what i've got now!

well, my XFX 6800GT is clocked stock at 485, the AGP eVGA is clocked at 350, so its alot more then just 75MHz.... but if you had the 6800GS at 526/1220 (with my stock cooler) and add the pipes, and the VS, then it would definatly rock the hell out of a 6800 Ultra, and be very comparible to the 7800GT, which has the extra 4 pipes, but slower speeds... you could overclock the 7800GT though.... but at $100 more..
