I registered for Runescape a few days ago. a browser-based game with e-mail login.
Today a spam/fake mail from Runescape was sent to my girlfriend.(possibly also to others in my contactlist).
It contained a message that she was selling her account which is against the rules. but she doesnt have an account to the game and never been on the website. And it had a fake link to login at.(never clicked on it) It was sent by '[email protected]' (Jagex is the developer of runescape). But that is not their real mail adress.
It's spam mail to hack Runescape accounts. No one ever opened the links inside.
My girlfriend also received a fake mail from a student in my class who i sent a document for school earlier that day. It was not from that person self. It was in english, not dutch, which we speak in my country. It also had a fake link.
I also receive spam/hack mail from blizzard/world of warcraft. I forwarded these to world of warcraft. thats what they recommend so they can take action. It only halfed the spam I get. Also my girlfriend sometimes gets these same mails, she also doesnt have a WoW account nor been on the website.
I know it's possible that my e-mail is hacked. But the weird thing is that stuff is sent from another source then my own.
I used Malwarebytes to scan my computer, but it didn't come up with anything. I also used other programs to scan my computer. (AVG, windows defender, eset nod32)
