How about a CF Hamachi Server?

Since this whole "CF clan" thing has come together, people seem to be wanting to play games with each other on Cf, am I right?

And if we are just going to be playing against or with each other and not other randoms, should we have a CF hamachi server?
I mean, it's free and easy to use with most games, so why not?
Everyone will have access to it, but everyone will need the latest version.

Is this a good idea?

I've tried Hamachi server when I play wow with my friends using my own realm. Not bad though..
This might a good idea.

liking the idea goose. The only thing I would ask is what games would we play over it?

I mean that in so much as, it isn't that difficult to find an empty TF2 server, I have a WaW server we can use whenever, it is always empty, we have a CoD4 server, L4D isn't hard to fill a server with only CF as there are only 4 or 8 player matches.

I know that is only a very small number of games but it is pretty much the same situation in any game. I think it is an excellent idea because we can get our own server for free and it is pretty quick speeds too, but whether we could actually utilise it, i don't know. Set it up and see the response, if we get a good few peoploe using it over empty servers or our own then i will take my hat off to you and say I was wrong, you won't know until you try :P

And Travis, was there a need at all? If you read through the other posts about the CF clan you will see that it isn't about being a clan at the minute, it is just us getting together and playing for fun.

We have been offered web space if we get a domain so, when I have a little more money I will get one and then we will have a site and can sort stuff out there, we have the xfire and steam groups still, we have a CoD4 and vent server that we have been told we can use, that sounds pretty good so far, what is the need in criticising, i don't get it

I have a 22 slot counter strike source public dust2 24/7 people can join and play

awesome, thanks for that one :D

Could you post that up in the CF forum thread so i can get it in the main post please, it is in Computer Games and Consoles.

Now to just try and remember my steam account info with CSS on :P

That's all fine yeh, but with the Hamachi thing, we can set it up for when we please and only the people we want will go on it. Plus we will have all the rights and stuff so we can change all the gravity and such. Plus we can just switch the game we want to play quickly enough without having to find a empty server or anything. Also it's a means to share our stuff with other people, because Hamachi isn't just for games, we can give others some funny pictures or anything.

I am going to set up one anyway, I will post the IP and stuff for it a bit later, and I guess if you all join may as well keep it going. Also there will be "admin" rights sort of thing for everyone I guess, so anyone can join the chat and such.

Actually, if it is against the rules to have a server for CF, like when people see it they won't think bad of CF sort of thing, then please let me know.

Alright I made it, it doesn't really take much to make a Hamachi network any so...

Ok the server is called: Computer Forum's Network and the password to get in is Computer Forum. But don't tell anyone who isn't on this site I guess. We will have to make "masks" for everyone so we can all play together through it. If you do not know Hamachi very well, you cannot "play" with other people outside of your range, so you have to mask yourself and it thinks your in the network of the other person.
So if we get enough people on (this will fail i know) I guess we will have to right down everyone's Hamachi IP and then have fun.

EDIT: Also thinking, that I/we will post a announcement if a game has been set up for a date, just to let everyone know that we are going to be playing.

I can't see fun in a community that can't spend maybe $3 a month for their own website.. You shouldn't have to download all of this junk to play games lol..

For a group of perhaps 10-15 people you don't need to spend money Travis. My clan, which has 200+ CS:S slots and a 30 slot Vent server, spend less than £50 a month on its core operations! What's GTA IV got for example? GFW & RSSC.

So besides Travis, what is everyone's opinion on the idea?
Because we pay money for the games, and not everyone has half decent jobs here, it seems like a good idea to have free servers where we can play "LAN" and stuff.

goose change it so that nobody can get the ip without contacting a hamachi admin. Not that I don't trust you or anyone else here but you post up the ip and password and anyone can get on, if that happens then anyone at all that is online on that hamachi server at the time that the person gets on can have their computer hacked by said person, it is the only downside to hamachi. There should be some sort of rule that, like the 100 posts to post in the selling stuff or pm a member, you also need 100 posts to gain access to our hamachi server so we know you can be trusted not to mess us around

We could play Warcraft III or something

hosting games through WC3 is much easier than CoD or CSS or any other more recentt game because WC3 is through battle.net so anyone can start a game through their system so long as they have the correct port forwarding and what not. We can do that without hamachi if you like, just do it in game
