Temps are a bit on the warmish side if this is on idle. Mostly looking at your cpu core temps and your gpu. Have you cleaned out the dust from your case yet?

So when you took those temps was the machine under load for example any games running/antivirus programs scanning and so on.

no but i tried it with a game and the cpu went up to 66, and the gpu was around the same :/

is there anyway to clean my machine without canned air or a static wrist band?

There are ways yes but you have to be "very" careful I for one use this method.

Be sure the computer is off and unplugged then use the House vacuum cleaner remove any cables/hardware which will hinder your ability to clean/view from dust don't use a high setting and carefully go around your motherboard/heatsink, graphics card and any other place where dust may lie. Be sure not to have any static in your person by touching the case and preferrably doing the clean on tiles/wood.

ok, so if im going to use the vacuum, should i not touch anything in the case,

also my heatsink is rediculously huge, i mean stupidly, iv not seen one like it could this be a problem?

could i try bumbing my fan speeds up, i had a look elswhere an dpeople said they had them at about 1400rpm and mines set at 974 i think, could this be a problem or are my speeds fine?

Not sure on the size of your case but i have the 1200 and that's huge also, it won't be a problem for cleaning and infact it should make it easier to clean. Your fan speeds don't seem to be controlled by the motherboard (PWM) do you have a fan controller that came with the fans or is it manually controlled with software.

i honestly have no clue, the girl i bought it off built it in 2006/7 and by the looks of it its never bene cleaned, she didnt say wether the fans were controlled by anything.

the heatsink however is definately aftermarket if that helps.

so is there any tips or pointers about using a hoover or should i be ok if i take my time, and dont touch anything in the case?

Take your time try not to touch anything on the motherboard and you will be fine. Also check the Power supply i replaced one of them this week and man was it dirty. I was like LOL no wonder it blew up.

lol, ok nice on emate i iwll let you know how it goes :D

EDIT; couldnt get to anything with my stupid hoover, but on the plus side it wasnt as messy as i thought, the mobo was clean, it looked new, there was no dust on the heatsink or psu, the only dust that was actually in there was on the fan blades

i dunno what led me to think it was messy as hell :/, must have bene half asleep or something :P

i will get some canned air soon and get the dust of the blades and see if that does anything.

could anything else be a problem for it?, the case in my sig is the right one, i had to update it as i had the model number wrong.

If the computers hardware is clean and you still get around 40*c cpu on idle then i suggest you re-apply thermal paste and re-seat the processor this will help with temps i suggest using Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) get it from any computer store.

Also I don't know if i have mentioned this but your temperatures depend on the ambient air temp say if its 30-35* in your room then you can't expect the temperatures to be below this. and therefore 40*c is about right.
