I was planning on running a 8600 GTS e-Geforce 256mb on my Core Duo Processor. How much watts do I need?

My computer is a Hp Pavillion a1640n

It has 1 harddrive 1 cd lightscribe burner 2 gigs of ddr2 ram and core 2 duo intel.

Oops I just purchased that and someone told me to get a big PSU so bought a 750 Watt one, wish I had got a better quality 600Watt now :(.

No, this card can be ran on a quality 350w with 18amps on the +12v. The guy who told you to go big was "misinformed", to say the least lol.

a 500 watt PSU is good for that card. U dont need a high PSU. u only need alot of watts when u runnin SLi.

As I said just above you(:P), recommended is a 350w. Op can go higher if he wants, but it will not be any boon to him, until he upgrades, and even then he may need to get a better one considering the mysterious nature of time, and it's undeniable flow.
