hello
I want to reset the bios of my laptop.
in this forum I read that the battery for CMOS must be removed for 30 second to rest the BIOS.
My question is: if I remove this CMOS battery then are all driver and OS of my laptop must be installed or not?
my keyboard and mouse are dead and I can not install these driver and also operating system.
I want to reset the BIOS perhaps mouse and keyboard are waked up!

You could use a PS/2 or USB mouse and keyboard... I don't think resetting BIOS will have any effect. What happened to make the mouse and keyboard "go to sleep"? Sounds like a hardware problem.

Nevertheless...

To reset he BIOS of a laptop, unplug it and remove the battery for about 5 minutes. AFAIK, there is no CMOS battery on laptop mobos - the laptop battery actually does the job of the deskop CMOS battery. If you find that your laptop does in fact have a CMOS battery, then you'll need to remove that for about minutes as well.

Yeah, sounds like more of a hardware/MoBo problem. And they will have a battery on the Board - if not then every time you removed the laptop battery, everything in BIOS would be wiped. Where it is and whether or not it's removable are dependent on the system - many older ones were actually soddered on.

Resetting the laptop BIOS wouldn't wake up your mouse & keyboard in this case.

It wouldn't wipe out your OS & drivers as well...

You can check the cause of this problem - when you turn on your laptop press the button to enter the BIOS. Generally, this button is F2 or F10 or F12 or Delete (f.e. in my laptop - F2), - it depends on the laptop model. You can press (press&release, press&release - very quickly...) all of these buttons. If you enter to the BIOS - then you can see that this problem caused by OS&drivers, because keyboard works...
Or you can press the button Pause&Break - if this button works, then starting your laptop will be paused.
Or you can press NumLock, CapsLock or ScrollLock - if these buttons work, then appropriate indicator on your laptop will blink.
I hope these actions will help you to localize the problem (you'll know it's either HW or OS problem).
Sorry for my english.)))

I don't think the problem of your keyboard and mouse is related to the bios. any way in most laptops the CMOS Battery is under the keyboard but i don't recommend you to open your laptop try first software solution to reset bios the best one is "PC CMOS Cleaner" for free http://www.pccmos.com/. the bios will keep the password if you have one. only configuration will set to default.
