How do get into automatic startup programs to delete them

Hi-
I am new here and am not an expert on computers. I accepted a windows download and now have two things that show up on Spybot whenever I run it and these two seems to slow the computer just a little bit. Spybot gets rid of them but everytime I start the computer there they are again, so they must be in the automatic startup. How can I get rid of them? they are:windows security center.antivirusdisablenotify and windows security center.firewalldisablenotify. Are they dangerous are just a pain? Any help would greatly be appreciated.....thanks, Eileen
 
The startup items are in Run-> type msconfig-> select the startup tab. If now you have to be careful when you select stuff there, as there are some vital system processes which will mess up the computer if you uncheck them. So, if you see any things which you know are not important, you can uncheck them. For example, I was able to keep the quicktime icon from turning on and slowing the startup from there.
