How do I automatically clean my desktop?

I want to press a button and all the items on my desktop will go into a folder. At the moment I have a lot of programs and files on the desktop. Its very messy.

Are there any free programs out there?

Put all of your documents into your user folder under documents, do the same with music, pictures, any downloaded files. Each has their own assigned folder in your user folder.

Most of the icons on your desktop should be just shortcuts. If you don't use the program a lot then delete the shortcut.
