How do I delete an undeletable file off my desktop?

I can't delete a file because it says that it is no longer located on my Desktop. I have tried the following: deleting through command prompt (both long and short version of the file name), FileAssassin, MoveOnboot, Delete Doctor, Lock Hunter, Take Control, and safe mode.

None of the above options worked. I would like to reformat my computer as a last resort. Are there any other methods that I should try?

You can use http://longpathtool.com/ software to delete undeletable file. I think it must be work.

it's probably a hidden or system file, try going to my computer/tools/folder options/view and checking show hidden files, then it mat be read only, you can change that by right clicking the file and changing the attributes.. another possibility is that there is a shortcut but no actual file...
