How do I find out what RAM speed my motherboard can handle?

I've been looking for some temporary ways to upgrade my computer, but I am out of RAM slots (ony 2 in my HP computer). I already have put in a ATI Radeon 9550 AGP video card, new sound card, new but same processor after original overheated when heat cutoff failed, and added a second 512 stick of RAM to the original single 512 MB stick, for a total of 1 GB. However, after running PC wizard, I discovered that my RAM clock speed is only 166 mHZ. This is horrible, it makes me sad. Will upgrading to faster DDR memory sticks make the computer faster. I have recently pre-ordered a game, and although meeting required specs, was unable to run the game with any sort of a good framerate. I was hoping that I could make it run the game with faster memory sticks, but I do not know how to find out what the highest speed RAM that my computer can take is. Anybody know how?

Thanks.

If you post your system specs, i'll look at your mobo and tell you if it's compatible with faster ram, also, what game was it?
