I upgraded from XP to XP Pro and thought I did a clean install but I dont think it did, shows 24 gigs hd space used after just installing win xp pro and office. I really want to start clean and get rid of junk files. Can someone tell me how to reformat and completely start over. I have backed up all my important files and have not reloaded all my software yet, so now is a good time to get it done right.

to format windows xp tou can make a fdisk. to make one of these you place a floppy disk in the floppy drive, go into my computer, right click on your floppy drive and select the option to create a fdisk.

If you dont mind reinstalling windows xp pro again then what I would do is when it ask you what partition to install windows on duringing windows installation. first delete all partitions. Then create new partition. Then choose to install on new partition. This will force windows xp to do a complete format before installing windows.

Thanks for the help, I dont have a floppy so may have to reinstall windows xp pro again which I dont mind. I am getting ready to set up a home network and really want this pc to have a fresh start.
