How do I hook up 2 hard drives at once?

I have two hard drives where the windows system32 file dal.dll has had an error or corruption.

I want to hook it up to the same computer as the good drive I have, but each time I try it says "disk read error" and will not boot. I cannot find anywhere on the bad drive where it shows how to set up the jumper for a slave configuration. The bad drive is a Barracude 7200.7 220GB. It only shows the configuration for Master, not for slave. Any ideas?

when you say you can't see the jumper settings, are you saying that there just aren't any instructions/charts on the drive to tell you how to set it?
If that's the case, you may just need to experiment with the slots (including no jumper at all - I think that's cable select most of the time).

are you trying to put a HDD with windows on it onto a new mobo?

put it without a jumper like obiwan said and then clear everything off of it

Here's what I needed to do:

I used hard drive A in my computer for a year or so. A windows file went bad and hard drive A would no longer boot. Hard drive B was the identical hard drive from my sisters identical computer, which I needed to use to recover a few important files from hard drive A.

The diagrams on top of the drives only showed me how to make it the master, cable select, or how to limit it to 32 GB (why the hell...?). It took me a while, but I figured out the only jumper slots and combinations that weren't used yet and figured out how to make drive A my slave. At which point in time I bitch slapped the files out of it and onto drive B and banished it to the dungeons.
