Anything i need to know before i pulling my old card will be helpful.
I know how to put the card in at least lol!

Dell xps 400 2.8gz 3mb ram 80gig hd
it has whatever came with it... ati 128mb

THis is the card i will be upgrading to:

SAPPHIRE Toxic 100225TXSR Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card

Thanks

well when you get the card, just unclick the current card from the PCIe x16 slot and place the new card in it, make sure the computer is turned off though.

the drivers should be on the Sapphire website, otherwise just google: Radeon HD 3870 Drivers and then you should be done. the card will give picture to your monitor without the drivers

Like Raz3rD said. Your XPS 400 has a total of 3 PCIe slots, x1, x4, and x16. Just take your old card out and replace it with the new card in the 164-pin 8GB/s PCIe x16 slot. A driver CD will come with your card but chances are it will be out-dated so you will need to go to the proper website and downloaded the latest driver for maximum optimization. Remember; wear ESD protection or touch the frame and/or PSU, and never touch contacts ;)

cheers

but yeah TekMaster is right, just explained it better than me

also if you want you should be able to fit the old video card in to a x4 slot, correct me if im wrong. then atleast you can use the old video card for a different monitor or something else.
