Ok guys im sick and tired of doing it wrong, What do i need to burn onto a cd? can it be cd-rw? what do i do when i do burn it? IM DYING PPL

1) Download the .iso file here
2) Burn the image to a disk. I use Nero, and you are burning an Image, not a Data CD (I use CD-R; I have never used CD-RW, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.)
3) When the disk is burned, reboot your computer and boot from the CD Drive (You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS. You will boot into the LiveCD Environment. When you want to install Ubuntu, double-click on the Install icon that is on the Ubuntu LiveCD Desktop. Follow the installation screens, and your next reboot should be into Ubuntu.

Umm...ok.

Are you certain you burned the CD as a .iso and not a file?
When you open the CD in Windows, what happens?
When you try to boot from the CD, what steps do you take and what happens?

Well when i go into windows and open the cd folder it isnt a .iso file it has a picture of a grey cd instead

when i open the cd in windows it just open the disk folder

Lastly when the computer is strting up i wake f12 and i select boot from cd

How did you burn it to the CD?
You didnt just drag the file over and burn did you?
You gotta burn the contents of the ISO onto the disk.

yer i kinda dragged it in....
But when i first downloaded it i dubled clicked on it and it said " windows can not open this file, would u like blah blah blah " so i just burned it on

On windows i went Open with " winrar " and i saw all of the files inside it :D so now ive got all of the files :D

But now what? :D :D :D :D:D:D:D:D

You cannot copy the file, you must burn it as a .iso.

First, find out if you can burn .iso images with your current burning software. if you can, great, then burn it as a few people have told you to do. If not, download Deep Burner, install it (it's perfectly safe), then burn the Ubuntu file as a .iso on a blank CD.

Restart the computer.

Press the 'Press (this key) to select boot option' key when prompted during POST.

Select your optical drive with the CD containing the .iso on it.

how do i do that

If you can burn a .iso, you will see the option listed when you go to burn the CD. if you don't see it, your software can't do it, and you need other software - download Deep Burner.
