How do I know if a new processor will work with motherboard?

I plan to have this processor: Intel P4 478 3.4Ghz 1024KB L2 Prescott

And I don't know if will be compatible with my motherboard. I'm now using a Intel P4 2.66Ghz 478

Here's my motherboard's info:

How much are you paying for this setup? That processor is very slow compared to present processors.

An AMD Sempron 140 Single-Core Processor is faster than that Pentium 4 and only $40 at Amazon.com:

A Socket AM3 motherboard is around $50.

Yeah the gain from the clock speed switch is hardly even worth the effort of swapping the CPUs and cleaning the heatsink. Thats if you're getting the thing for free. Staying on that socket is a dead upgrade path.

Please guys, I know it's not a big upgrade but I just need to know if it's compatible. It will make a difference for playing mame arcade games and that's what I want to do.
