how do i know if its been overclocked??

i have foolishly bought a nvidia 7600gs second hand of ebay and it is overheating. i have a nasty feeling that the guy who i bought it of has had a go and overclocking it and made a mess of it. i was just wondering if theres any way i can find out if it has been and prove it to help me get a refund.

thanks in advance

i dont think it would be possible to tell if it has.
and it shouldnt still be overclocked once its in your system i dont think.. although i could be wrong...

but maybe you wil have to buy an aftermarket cooler for it or something.

it seems unlikely to me that it would be overheating from his overclocking.
unless he fried something. but then it shouldnt be working...

I would say that any overclocking is software set only and unless he damaged it, it is now as it was purchased new. There is not a way you will ever know.

If it was just overclocked via software then it would be running at factory settings now, however if he flashed the BIOS with a new one that either overclocks it or unlocks some features, then you would be running those new settings. You should be able to tell my opening up RivaTuner or a similar program, and seeing what the speeds are.
