How do I know if my phone is carrying a virus?

I received a new laptop and was trying to be on the safe side. I already have Kaspersky Internet Security on my laptop, but I would like to avoid any unnecessary virus attacks. I have charged my phone in other public computers before and also charged it in my dad's computer before when he was having a virus problem. I know the virus can be carried by phone because some viruses only affect pcs. I just wanted to know how I could find out if my phone is clean so I don't transfer any virus from my phone to my new laptop.
 
Getting a virus or malware on a phone isn't as common as a pc getting infected. If you are that worried then run security software on it. Android has many free virus programs in the play store with Avast being one of them.

Are you saying that an Android antivirus would be able to detect if my phone was a carrier for a computer virus?
 
It should. Google play store has mcafee, avast, avg and others. Not sure what Apple has as I don't use them.
 
Put Antivirus on your new laptop, it will detect if there is a virus when you plug your phone in if it attempts to transfer the virus.
