how do i reinstall vista?

how do i reinstall vista home basic onto my computer?
do i just log on and put the disk in?
does that delete the old version and install the new one?

Restart, go to CMOS/BIOS (Press usually DEL key, or F1, F2, Shift... the screen should say "Press --- to go to BIOS/CMOS).

From there set the boot order to your CD/DVD drive (the one with the CD) as #1, then save, exit, restart, and it will load up Vista setup from there.

And from there, it will format the HDD - you will lose EVERYTHING - so make sure you have nothing you want on it.
