How Do I Share A Printer?

i have one desktop computer, i have a printer and a wireless router BOTH hardwired to this computer, printer works fine from this computer,

i have a laptop that connects to the router wireless, i want to be able to printer to the printer using my wireless laptop,

both computers are running XP, i have gone into the control panel on the desktop and marked the printer as "shared",

i dont know where to proceed from here with the setup on the laptop, i have the install cd that came with the printer, do i need to use this on the laptop now?

can somebody explain for me how to set this up? or link me to a page that explains in detail?

Is the printer wireless? If not, if the printer is hooked up to the computer via a usb cable then that computer must remain on for you to be able to print from the laptop. All you need to do is control panel, printers, add a printer, choose networked printer and find it the directory tree. Both computers must be using the same workgroup name.

thanks....how do i check or change the workgroup name??

the printer is hardwired to the desktop, i realize it will have to be on
 
Right click on computer and click on properties. Click on the computer name tab and you'll see workgroup name.
